Margaret is the Facility Manager at the READY Center.
Margaret earned a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Loyola University Chicago and initially worked on understanding resistance mechanisms in EGFR mutant or KRAS mutant Non-Small Cell Lung Cancers. In 2015, she joined QBI’s Cancer Cell Mapping Initiative (CCMI) at UCSF in Nevan Krogan’s lab, where she played a crucial role in cloning and expressing genes in cell culture models, and analyzing those proteins via Mass Spectrometry related to Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Breast Cancer. Her innovative approaches streamlined the creation of comprehensive Protein-Protein Interaction networks and improved project tracking processes.
She began managing the Krogan Lab at both the Gladstone Institutes and UCSF-Byers Hall locations, balancing CCMI research with administrative responsibilities that included day-to-day operations, procurement, finance, and grant support. In 2020, Margaret transitioned away from the bench and now applies her technical, operational, and administrative expertise to fully support the advancement of scientific research within the Krogan Lab, QBI and for the READY Center.
