Octavio Castillo

Octavio Castillo is a Staff Research Associate at the READY Center.

Octavio fell in love with science, specifically Biology, during his time at UC Santa Barbara where he received a B.S. in Cell and Developmental Biology. At READY, he has taken a step forward to learn new and exciting CRISPR technologies that are coupled with challenging genomic engineering assays using the unlimited benefits of iPSCs to study disease, understand protein networks and develop potential cell therapies. Octavio is interested on how these molecular interactions can help us better understand how disease works in the human brain and how we could find ways to therapeutically help those who have been diagnosed with it.

Outside of the lab, Octavio enjoys going on walks around the city, exercise, play video games, go to coffee shops, read, and try new restaurants! A good cup of coffee always makes his day.
