We are hosting an event at UCSF on November 18 and 19, 2021 to highlight Native and Indigenous scientists across the United States, and provide them with professional development and community building opportunities. Our long term goal is to build a welcoming community of Native basic scientists at UCSF and this is the first step towards achieving that goal.
The symposium represents the full circle of career stages for Native scientists, starting with learners (undergraduate, post-bac, graduate student, and postdoc - that’s you!), then faculty, and lastly elders/faculty emeritus. For learners, our priority is to provide you with meaningful opportunities at UCSF, a world-class biomedical research institution, that will help advance you on your career journey. Some of these opportunities include: connecting undergraduates to post-baccalaureate and graduate program coordinators, and connecting graduate students to potential postdoc faculty mentors. We hope that you will apply so you can share your amazing scientific and personal stories and also meet other Native researchers from across the country.
Call for Applications Open: July 8, 2021
