The QBI Seminar Series is presenting Dr. Sonja Lorenz of the Rudolf Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine in Würzburg, Germany. Her lab's research focuses on the structural mechanisms of posttranslational protein modifications. In particular, she aims to understand how dynamic macromolecular complexes regulate specificity in the ubiquitin system.

Sonja was named an EMBO Young Investigator and an Emmy Noether Fellow (DFG) and acts as a spokesperson of a ubiquitin research consortium. Sonja Lorenz studied Biochemistry at the University of Regensburg/Germany and UC Berkeley and obtained a Ph.D. degree from the University of Oxford/UK. Following postdoctoral work with John Kuriyan at UC Berkeley.
