Event Overview
The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at Tel Aviv University (TAU), the Blavatnik Center for Drug Discovery at TAU, and the Center for AI & Data Science at TAU invite you to their third joint symposium on Computational Biology, Drug Discovery, and Artificial Intelligence, taking place January 7–8, 2027, in San Francisco.
The symposium marks the beginning of a renewed research collaboration between UCSF and TAU, supported by a generous grant from the Stephen and Nancy Grand Charitable Trust. Announced in October 2026, The Nancy and Stephen Grand UCSF-TAU Collaborative Initiative in Computational Biology, Drug Discovery, and Artificial Intelligence will strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two universities, bringing together their complementary expertise to advance biomedical research.
Co-directed by Professor Ron Shamir, founder of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at TAU, and Professor Nevan Krogan, director of QBI at UCSF, the initiative will support collaborative research to deepen understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying human disease and accelerate the development of innovative diagnostics, therapeutics, and preventive strategies. By combining UCSF’s strengths in biomedical research and translational medicine with TAU’s expertise in computational biology and artificial intelligence, the collaboration aims to advance discoveries that improve human health.
Bringing these shared priorities into focus, the symposium will kick off this renewed effort, convening scientists to explore how computational biology, drug discovery, and artificial intelligence can drive new discoveries and advance human health.
Call for Speakers
We welcome researchers interested in speaking at the symposium. A select number of speakers will be chosen as part of the scientific program. Those selected will be notified in advance of the meeting. If you wish to be a speaker, please let us know by Sunday, November 1, 2026 using the form below.
