Getting the Message Across: How Cell Signaling Goes Awry in Human Disease

June

17

2:30 PM-2:45 PM

The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) at UCSF is presenting a live Twitter interview hosted by QBI Fellow, Kliment Verba, to chat with his colleague, Natalia Jura, who was the 27th recipient of the annual Byers Award in Basic Biology for her research on better understanding cancer through molecular photography.

After a 10-year-long quest to photograph proteins that are involved in many cases of breast cancer, called HER2 and HER3, Dr.Jura and her group made groundbreaking advances in creating images via cryo-electron microscopy that show how mutations in this molecular pair drive cancer growth.

Join us for 15 minutes in QBI Twitter Space on June 17, 2022 at 2:30 PM PT for an opportunity to hear about the path Dr.Jura journeyed to get to this point, as well as how she and her collaborators plan to use these new scientific insights to potentially improve targets for new cancer drugs that result in better patient outcomes.
